That was the brief Rohit Shetty gave to help achieve Devgn's tough-as-nails look in 'Singham' To achieve his beefy look in Rohit Shetty's Singham, Ajay Devgn worked on looking "manly". Says the director, "We've tried to achieve for AJ the physique of a man who could bash up 20 people, if he so wished. It's not a six-pack look. Anybody can achieve that with injections and steroids.  The manliness has to come through as he plays a tough cop who is from a village on the Maharashtra-Goa border. It is a raw action film filled with hand-to-hand combat scenes, something one rarely gets to see in movies in this day and age of high-tech gadgetry. Ajay's trainer Prashant Sawant is putting him through the paces." Adds Prashant, "We trained for three months. Ajay plays a very tough cop. He needed to look the part by losing weight, developing more cuts on his body and appear more lean and muscular. After training daily for a hour and a half, I oversaw his diet and made sure he maintained a high-protein low-carb diet every three hours. I then had him do a rigorous combination of weights and circuit super sets that incorporated all techniques including pushups and pull-ups." Ask the trainer if it took time for Ajay to build this physique and pat comes the reply, "It didn't take him much time, Ajay has a great body and he has always been a fitness freak. Akshay Kumar throws party for 'Desi Boyz' unit at exclusive club-lounge in London; picks up tab In B-Town circles, Akshay Kumar may be perceived as being quite tight-fisted with money. He disproved this theory by throwing a lavish wrap-up party for Desi Boyz cast-and-crew last night.  Sushi treat The bash was at one of London's most exclusive lounge-bars Nobu, where you can find the finest sushi dishes in the city.  Says a unit source, "It is one of the most expensive and exclusive restaurants in London. Yesterday was the last day of the Desi Boyz schedule in London.  Normally, the producers throw a wrap-up party after a schedule ends but Akshay told the producers (Eros) that he was so happy with the way that the entire London schedule went by that he wanted to throw a huge party for the cast and crew." The source adds that co-stars John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Akshay's close friends Farah Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala (who are also in London on work) attended the party along with director Rohit Dhawan. The source continues, "Akshay told producer Krishika Lulla that he loved the way Rohit has shot the film. It was a 40-day schedule and throwing a party for everyone was AK's way of showing his appreciation. He invited everybody -- from the spot boys to all the unit hands and took care of them all personally." Missed it Says Krishika, "Akshay said he wanted to throw the party himself. He wanted me to join too but I had to stay back in Mumbai for work. Though I missed the bash, I will make sure he throws another party for me in Mumbai! I have known Akshay from his first movie. Refuses to shoot unless the netbook she endorses is used and represented in her next film Kareena Kapoor believes in putting her money where her mouth is. The actress recently took her role as brand ambassador for a 'size zero' netbook (mini laptop) a tad too seriously. Says a source, "Bebo loves the product and has one in every colour. She carries one to every shoot and is often seen working on it. In her upcoming film Atul Agnihotri's Bodyguard, she plays a management student who does all her studies using her laptop. As such, she is required to use one in every scene." When a netbook of another make was given to her, she threw a fit and refused to shoot. She even went as far as to insist that the 'size zero' netbook be used in all her scenes in the film." Kareena confirms, "It's true that I am very particular about my role as brand ambassador and have used the 'size zero' netbook for all my scenes in Bodyguard. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Salman Khan's NGO Being Human.  Coincidentally, in the film she wears the garment in, is Abhishek Bachchan starrer, Dum Maaro Dum. And AB Jr is married to Sallu's ex Aishwarya Rai.  Says a source, "Producer-director Rohan Sippy came up with the idea of auctioning the skirt online, through the film's official website with support being provided by a portal that auctions film memorabilia. The beneficiary was discussed and the choice was unanimous -- Being Human. They feel it has been involved in some exceptional charity work. "  Why Deepika's skirt? "While on a nationwide tour, the DMD team is discovering that while the track itself is being criticised, there is great excitement over the costume that Deepika wears in the music video. There is a huge demand for it, " reveals the source.  Rohan Sippy says, "We are all surprised by the reaction to Deepika's look in the track. We decided to auction it for charity. " Anushka Manchanda has crooned for the DMD title track Mit Jaaye Gham song that Pritam Chakraborthy composed.  Today's Gal! Says designer Anahita Shroff Adjania, who was responsible for Deepika's look in the film, "We wanted today's girl at a rave -- barefoot, dancing on the sand, wearing anklets and a white dress.  Deepika's blouse made of stretch lycra, looks like a choli and is cut in such a way that the back looks bare. The skirt moves like a subtle shimmer as there are pieces of metal sheeting in it along with chiffon and is attached to a leather band.  Inside, she's wearing a tiny sequined hotpants cut very high.
